was just done watching episode 18 of sungkyunkwan and scandal and im filled with a lot of feelings. and yeah, i cant wait for the next two episodes to be subbed soon! although i can already watch dramas without subs, this is a traditional setting so yeah... lol. plus, i dont trust my korean enough yet. i trust myself just enough to understand jaechunsu's tweets, lol!

hmmm.

i just realized that skks focuses a lot on the fathers. maybe because back in those days, females werent that important a role? i have this newfound respect and love for my father now. not that i didnt already respect and love my father, lol!

well, these two episodes definitely helped me understand one thing: without letting us know, parents sometimes do things that really are for our own good. and when we feel restricted, or feel that they are not doing what they should... they endure it all. they hold it in- tears and feelings- when we spew hurtful words at them.

then we spend most of our lives hating them... only to realize that we were the ones who were wrong all along. instead of our parents, we were the ones who had gotten caught up in our own feelings and perspectives of everything around us. we were the ones who had failed to look past the surface of things.

moon jaeshin. he bore hatred against his father for most of his life, blaming him for not trying to redress his brother's death. when he found out that his father had indeed been trying to gather evidence against the culprits and was waiting for the right time to expose them... i dont think i can forget the pain and guilt in jaeshin's eyes.

and kim yoonhee. as a girl, she would not be able to pursue academic dreams. but she was a talent and as a professor at sungkyunkwan, her father recognized her talents. he knew the potential that she had and yet could not bear to give her hopes of being able to properly study. all yoonhee remembers of her father, who had died when she was still young, is his silhouette behind closed doors, reading to her brother.

it was only when her brother finally told her the truth, that their father was always sitting right beside the door, reading out loud books that were too difficult for him to understand, did she realize that she had wrongly resented her father.

and the minister of war! as bad a person he is, he loves his daughter a lot. well.. this is the only good thing i can say about him. LOL.

haha, yeahh~ before i jump to conclusions and get mad at my parents (which i have often done when i was younger), i will try to stand in their shoes and understand from their perspective. after all, when i become a parent myself, i am going to have to challenge this same role. lol. if i even have children, that is... lol!

that aside... i love how lee seonjoon completely transforms into another person because of kim yoonhee and the love he has for her. so cute! i've never been one to like surprises but his way of apologizing to her was sooooo cute! it's something i like, lol. he put in slips of paper between books she would read. haha, adorable right! and what makes it more lovable is that lee seonjoon is the one doing it! LOL. yeah, THE lee seonjoon! hahaha!

and gyahhh~ goo yongha~ the #1 lovable character in skks. as long as he's there, fun will not be too far away~

hee, i shall leave the essay on the love for the characters for after im done with the last two episodes. it wont be until after thursday because i've an exam on wednesday; i cannot afford to get distracted. and i pray with all my might that i wont. lol!

and yes...

WATCH SUNGKYUNKWAN AND SCANDAL!

i admit that i watched it because it's micks' virgin drama but im not saying it because it is so. im recommending this drama because it really is nice to watch. the way the story develops and the way the plot gradually draws everybody into it... and i exceptionally love how every single character, bad and good, got a chance to shine.

=)

hee.

cheers!
